You must have been active in promoting vegetarianism in your school and / or community; and have demonstrated compassion, courage, and a strong commitment to promoting a peaceful world through a vegetarian diet/lifestyle to be considered for this award.

Shaw-Worth Memorial Scholarship

Award Amount: $2,500

The Shaw-Worth Memorial Scholarship is open to New England high school seniors who have made meaningful contributions to the area of animal protection over a significant period of time.

Actions that merit the award may include: dedicated long term direct work on behalf of animals; inspiring leadership in animal protection organizations; papers, speeches, presentations on humane topics; or heroic rescues of animals in danger.

Amphibian Conservation Alliance is giving out seed grants all year.

With awards ranging from $500-$1,000, grants are awarded to help kick start projects or allow teams to try new innovative approaches to address conservation, research and educational challenges.

The Exotic Feline Rescue Center Internship is open to students who want to further their education in animal care.

You must be at least 18 years of age, be capable of lifting up to 60 pounds and be in good health.

You must also be hardworking, dedicated and self-motivating to be eligible for this internship.

Students majoring in animal-related fields are preferred, but it is not required.

Interns will be involved in the daily care of about 186 big cats and have the opportunity to observe veterinary procedures.

Internship duties also include involvement in: food preparation, feeding, cleaning, maintenance of the enclosures and grounds, construction, veterinary care, guest services and educational programs.

C.R.O.W. Externship for Veterinary Students

Provided by the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (C.R.O.W.), the C.R.O.W. Externship for Veterinary Students is available to veterinary students who want to gain experience in wildlife medicine and rehabilitation.

Externships, which are a minimum of four weeks in length, are conducted at the non-profit C.R.O.W. hospital's facilities in Southwest Florida and students will be able to experience the entire rehabilitation process while being supervised by a full-time staff veterinarian.

Herpetology Internship – National Aquarium in Baltimore

The Herpetology Internship is available at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

You must be interested in assisting with the daily care of the Aquarium's reptiles, amphibians and associated invertebrates.

You will prepare diets and feed the animals, clean and monitor on- and off-exhibit animals and assist in the maintenance of live food cultures.

Other special projects may be determined by the staff.

To qualify, you must be enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a degree in biology, zoology, animal behavior, ecology, environmental science or a related field.

You must also be comfortable working with frogs, lizards, fish, rodents, crickets and other terrestrial arthropods.
