Award: 25 Awards of $2,000

Deadline: 2/01/16

Available to: College Freshmen

The Arts for Life! Scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors from Florida.

You must demonstrate excellence in visual art, music, dance, drama or creative writing to be eligible for this award.

To enter, you must submit a sample of your work and a brief essay explaining how the arts have positively influenced your life.

Iowa Scholarship for the Arts

Award: $1,500

Deadline: 2/01/16

Available to: Students Ages 17-24 Years

The Iowa Scholarship for the Arts is available to high school seniors residing in Iowa.

You must intend to enroll as a full-time student at an Iowa college or university with a major in dance, literature, music, theatre, folk and traditional arts, or visual arts to be eligible for this award.

Morton Gould Young Composer Award

Award: $40,000

Available to: Maximum Age 29 Years

The Morton Gould Young Composer Award is available to young composers who are under 30 years of age as of January 1.

You must submit a composition either on regular music paper or reproduced by an accepted reproduction process to be considered for this award.

Available to: Students Ages 17-24 Years

The peermusic Latin Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students actively studying Latin music genres and composition.

You must be between the ages of 17 and 24 and submit an original song or instrumental work in a Latin genre in order to be considered for this award.

American Legion Music Committee Scholarship

Award: $1,000

Available to: College Freshmen through College Sophomores

The peermusic Latin Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students actively studying Latin music genres and composition.

You must be between the ages of 17 and 24 and submit an original song or instrumental work in a Latin genre in order to be considered for this award.

MBI Student Composer Award

Award: $5,000

Deadline: 2/15/16

Available to: Students Age 28 & Under

The BMI Student Composer Award is available to enrolled students under the age of 28 who are engaged in the study and composition of classical music.

You must be a citizen of a country in the Western hemisphere and submit an original composition in order to be considered for this award.

Future Jazz Master Scholarship

Award: $5,000

Deadline: 2/15/16

Available to: Graduate Students, Year 1 through Year 5

The Future Jazz Master Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral program at one of the college or universities recognized by BMI Foundation, Inc.

You must be pursuing a graduate degree in one of the following majors: Jazz and Studio Music, Jazz Composing and Arranging, Jazz Performance, Jazz Performance and Pedagogy, Jazz Studies, Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media.

John Lennon Scholarship for Songwriters and Composers

Award: $5,000

Deadline: 2/15/16

Available to: Students Ages 17-24 Years

The John Lennon Scholarship for Songwriters and Composers is available to students and alumni from select high schools and colleges throughout the United States.

You must submit a recording of an original piece of music with lyrics to be eligible for this award. The contest is open to students between the ages of 17 and 24.

Nashville Songwriting Scholarship

Available to: Students Ages 17-24 Years

The Nashville Songwriting Scholarship is open to currently enrolled students actively studying music and composition.
You must be between the ages of 17 and 24 and submit an original song in on of the following genres: Americana, blues, bluegrass, contemporary Christian, country, folk, and roots.

Woody Guthrie Fellowship

Award: $5,000

Deadline: 2/15/16

Available to: College Juniors through Graduate Students, Year 5

The Woody Guthrie Fellowship is open students pursuing research topics or themes related to Woody Guthrie. Disciplines may include, but are not limited to: American musicology, historical musicology, ethnomusicology, cultural studies, social sciences, humanities and American history.

You must submit a project narrative to qualify for this award.

Phoebe Ann Rose Scholarship

Award: 3 Awards of $500

Available to: Students Ages 14-26 Years

The Phoebe Ann Rose Scholarship is available to music students between the ages of 14 and 26.

You must demonstrate participation in volunteer activities and have a minimum 2.0 GPA to be eligible for this award.

A 150-300 word essay on the meaning of music in your life is also required.

Gene Roddenberry Memorial/Sir Patrick Stewart Scholarship for Aspiring Writers and Artists

The Gene Roddenberry Memorial/Sir Patrick Stewart Scholarship for Aspiring Writers and Artists is available to students pursuing studies in acting, dance, music, writing, literature, graphic arts and other media related fields.

Applicants must be members in good standing with STARFLEET and must have been so, for at least one (1) year before the application deadline.
