So essays aren’t your thing. Believe it or not, that's okay in the scholarship world. There are still amazing scholarships out there that allow entries of all kinds – like videos, artwork, photography and more.

To help better organize your scholarship and internship search, please note that the following scholarships for writers are listed according to deadline, with the earliest deadline appearing at the top of the page. Deadlines that vary will appear at the bottom of each list.

The Lifelaunchr June Sweepstakes

Deadline: 6/30/15

Available to: High School Freshman through College Freshman

Award Amount: $1,000

Create a LifeLaunchr Account during May and June 2015, create a LifeLaunchr Storyboard, and post the Storyboard on the LifeLaunchr Storyboard Contest Facebook Page (http://ift.tt/1GFMh6l).

You will receive an entry for every “like” on your storyboard on the Facebook page, and one winner will be chosen at random from among all the entries after June 30.

Scholarship money may be used for any college-related costs incurred during 2015 (January 1 through December 31) including tutoring, test-preparation, application fees, tuition, or room and board.

LifeLaunchr may feature posted Storyboards on its website or blog or in communication with its users.

You must be in high school (or a graduating senior), be 13 and over, and a legal US resident to qualify.

Women in Tech Scholarship

Available To: Female Students, Ages 18+

Award Amount: $25,000

The Women in Tech Scholarship is available to female students who are pursuing a degree in a STEM field.

You must be a permanent resident, refugee, or qualified immigrant of the U.S. to be eligible for this award.

To be considered, you must submit a 30 - to 60 - second video answering the following question: "What is your dream career in technology, and how do you plan to achieve it?"

Book Nerds Word Contest

Award: 7/13/15

Available to: Students Ages 13 and Older

Sponsored by Amplify Education, the Book Nerd Words Contest is open to all students above the age of 13 in the U.S. and Canada.

To be considered, you must submit a video of no more than 30 seconds in length where you craft a brief story about the definition of one of five book related words on the sponsor's website.

The Choose Your Adventure Contest is open to all students above the age of 13 in the U.S. and Canada.

Imagine Cup Games Competition

Deadline: 7/31/15

Available to: College Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $50,000

The Imagine Cup Games Competition is available to students with an interest in video game design.

To enter the contest you, or your team, must submit a desktop or tablet game using Windows, or a mobile game using Windows Phone, or a browser game using Windows Azure.

Games can support multiple languages as long as English is represented and be no bigger than 500MB to be eligible entries.

Do-Not-Call-Complaints.com Scholarship

Available to: High School Seniors through College Seniors

Award Amount: $1,000

The Do-Not-Call-Complaints.com Scholarship is available to high school seniors and undergraduate students.

You must submit a creative 1-3 minute long video to qualify for this award.

Brilliance Scholarship

Available to: High School Junior through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $1,500

The Brilliance Scholarship is available to creative students that demonstrate an interest of designing beautiful, unique jewelry.

You must create an original diamond ring design and submit one to two paragraphs (up to 200 words) about the design and its inspiration to qualify for this award.

Designs will be judged on overall look, creativity, and the design’s inspiration.

MarvelOptics.com Scholarship Essay Contest

Deadline: 8/10/15

Available to: College Freshman through College Seniors

Award Amount: $3,000

The MarvelOptics.com Scholarship Essay Contest is available to full-time students enrolled at an accredited four-year university or college.

You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and submit a 500-word essay on the following topics: "Why is sight/vision important?" and describe what the following quote means to you: "Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”

You may also choose to post a one-minute video to YouTube discussing the topics above.

The Earth Systems Contest is open to all students above the age of 13 in the U.S. and Canada.

Available to: College Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $500

The Wholesale Halloween Costumes Scholarship - Meme Contest is available to students enrolled at an accredited two- or four-year college within the United States.

You must submit a creative meme for Wholesale Halloween Costumes to qualify for this award.

Healthy Home Scholarship

Deadline: 8/15/15

Available to: High School Sophomores through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $1,000

The Healthy Home Scholarship is available to high school, undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at an accredited college or university.

You must be at least 16 years of age and have a minimum 2.75 GPA to qualify for this award.

Additionally, you must submit an essay and a brief 30-second summary of your essay via Instagram.

Student Transportation Video Contest

Deadline: 8/31/15

Available to: High School Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $500

Provided by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association, the Student Transportation Video Contest is open to all students.

To enter, you must submit a two- to four-minute video that examines any aspect of transportation in the United States.

Clubs of America Scholarship Award

Deadline: 8/31/15

Available to: College Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $1,000

The Clubs of America Scholarship Award is available to currently enrolled students who have a minimum GPA of 3.0.

You must submit an essay of at least 600 words about your career aspirations and how your current course load will help you achieve success.

YouTube video submissions are also accepted and should be no longer than five minutes.

Siemens Competition

Deadline: 9/22/15

Available to: High School Freshman through College Freshman

Award Amount: $100,000

Provided by the Siemens Foundation, the Siemens Competition is open to high school students. Students are encouraged to do research in mathematics, engineering, biological, or physical science.

Students, working individually or on a team of two or three, will have the opportunity to present their research to leading scientists in their field.

Three hundred projects are recognized as semifinalists.

Regional finalists are awarded a trip to compete at one of six regional competitions.

At the regional event, students will present a Powerpoint presentation and digital poster and participate in a question and answer session.

Individuals submitting projects must be seniors at the time of the deadline; team applicants may be freshman, sophomores, juniors, or seniors.

JW Surety Bonds Scholarship

Deadline: 9/30/15

Available to: College Freshman through College Seniors

Award Amount: $1,000

The JW Surety Bonds Scholarship is open to current college students.

You must submit an informational article of between 500 and 1,000 words on one of the sponsor approved topics in order to qualify for this award.

Videos of between one and five minutes and slideshows of between 10 and 30 slides are also acceptable.

Bluetooth Breakthrough Award

Deadline: 11/04/15

Available to: High School Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $5,000

The Bluetooth Breakthrough Award is available to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students.

To be considered, you must submit an idea for a product, application, prototype; or student - led project that demonstrates how Bluetooth technology can be used in new ways.

A letter of recommendation from a teacher or professor is advised.

Creative Excellence Scholarship

Deadline: 11/30/15

Available to: College Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $1,000

The Creative Excellence Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at an accredited college or university.

You must be majoring in graphic arts and design or a related field while maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA to qualify for this award.

Additionally, you must submit a personal design promoting yourself as where you are now in your career as a student, or how you see yourself in your future career as a professional artist.

A 1,000 word essay describing what your design means to you is also required.

Andrew Flusche Scholarship Contest

Deadline: 11/30/15

Available to: High School Seniors through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $500

The Andrew Flusche Scholarship Contest is available to high school seniors and students currently enrolled in a college or university.

You must create a public service advertisement video (PSA) which raises awareness of the severity of the consequences of drunk driving among your peers to qualify for this award.

The video must be uploaded to YouTube and be no longer than three minutes long.

Look Twice, Save A Life Scholarship

Deadline: 12/01/15

Available to: High School Seniors through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $1,000

The Look Twice, Save A Life Scholarship is available to students currently attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university.

You must create a form of social awareness that inspires other students to focus on Looking Twice for Motorcycle Safety to qualify for this award.

This can be a video, artwork, essay or anything that would engage other students to focus on safe driving.

Student must have a valid driver’s license.

BusinessPlanToday Annual Scholarship

Deadline: 12/05/15

Available to: College Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $1,000

The BusinessPlanToday Annual Scholarship is open to full-time students enrolled at an accredited university or college.

You must create a business plan executive summary that is original, creative, unique, and persuasive to be eligible for this award.

Youth Free Expression Project Film Contest

Deadline: 12/14/15

Available to: Ages 19 and Under

Award Amount: $1,000

Provided by the National Coalition Against Censorship, the Youth Free Expression Project Film Contest is open to filmmakers age 19 and younger who are living in the U.S. or its territories (citizenship not required).

To qualify, you must submit an original film of four minutes or less about a censorship issue or event from the past 40 years or explore what you think will be the major free speech questions of the future.

Entries can be videos of any kind, including documentary, animation, experimental, satire, fictional narrative, or music video.

The top three winners will be awarded cash prizes and the first place winner will receive a $5000 scholarship to the New York Film Academy.

Create-a-Greeting Card Scholarship

Available to: High School Freshman through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $10,000

The Create-A-Greeting Card Scholarship Contest is open to currently enrolled high school and college students in the United States.

To enter, you must design a holiday, get well, or birthday greeting card and submit your work to be judged.

Your photo, art, or graphics submitted must be your own original work and you must be at least 14 years of age to be eligible for this award.

CKSF Scholarship Competition

Deadline: Varies

Available to: High School Freshman through Graduate Student, Year 5

Award Amount: $2,500

The CKSF Scholarships are available to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in the U.S.

You must register to participate in scholarship quizzes that test your knowledge of topics ranging from general "common knowledge" to specific academic subjects, books, websites, and even movies.

You will be scored based on a combination of time and accuracy.

Students with the highest scores at the end of each competition win.

Optimist International Oratorical Contest

Available To: Maximum Age 18 Years

Award Amount: $2,500

The Optimist International Oratorical Contest is open to students under the age of 19.

To be considered for this award, you must prepare a 4 to 5 minute speech on the topic, "How My Passions Impact the World" to be presented at your local Optimist Club's contest.

FIDM National Scholarship Competition

Available to: High School Senior through College Freshman

Award Amount: 100% of Tuition

The Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) Scholarship Competition is open to all U.S high school seniors and graduates who would like to attend FIDM.

To be considered, you must submit a project in one of the following categories: Fashion Executive of Tomorrow, Interior, Designer of Tomorrow, Graphic Designer of Tomorrow, Fashion Designer of Tomorrow, Visual Designer of Tomorrow, and Digital Media Artist of Tomorrow.

Projects are judged on creativity, thoughtfulness and promise.

American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest


Deadline: Varies

Amount: $18,000

Ages: High School Freshman through High School Senior

The National High School Oratorical Contest is open to junior high and high school students who are under the age of 20 and citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States.

You must prepare an oration on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with some emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens to our government.

A complete list of topics are available on the Legion's Web site. Each individual state winner certified into and participating in the first round of the national contest receives an additional $1,500 scholarship.
