National Scholarship Month Challenge: Apply for 10 Awards

Okay – we get it. National Scholarship Month may not be the highlight of your year like it is for us, at Fastweb. But, qualifying for money to pay for school is always something students can celebrate!

In honor of National Scholarship Month, we’ve listed out 10 scholarships, each worth $10,000 or more, that you can apply for now.

1. SMART Scholarship


Deadline: 12/01/16

Available to: College Freshmen through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: 100% of Tuition

The SMART Scholarship is available to undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. You must be a U.S. citizen, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be at least 18 years of age to be eligible for this award.

2. Keynote Scholarship


Deadline: 12/02/16

Available to: College Freshmen through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $10,000

The Keynote Scholarship is available to high school senior, undergraduate, and graduate students with definite plans to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this award.

3. Burger King Scholars Program


Deadline: 12/15/16

Available to: High School Seniors through College Freshmen

Award Amount: Up to $50,000

The Burger King Scholars Program is open to graduating high school seniors in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. To be eligible, you must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and plan to enroll in a two - or four - year college, university, or vocational school.

4. $20,000 Foot Locker Scholar Athletes Scholarship


Deadline: 12/16/16

Available to: High School Seniors through College Freshmen

Award Amount: 20 awards of $20,000

For the sixth consecutive year, Foot Locker will be awarding incoming college freshman with $20,000 in scholarship funding to pursue a 4-year college degree - not because they scored the most touchdowns or goals, but because sports have helped them grow into strong leaders at school and in their communities. As a newly added bonus, one of our 20 winners will be selected for the Ken C. Hicks scholarship for demonstrating superior educational achievement, outstanding leadership, and a true love of the game. This winner will receive an additional $5000 award (for a total of $25,000). This year's 20 winners will join the program's four previous classes of Foot Locker Scholar Athletes, which will result in 120 total scholarship recipients since the program's inception in 2011. Applicants are evaluated based on whether they are Foot Locker Scholar Athlete material. The ideal candidates would be proactive, highly motivated, inspiring, charismatic, honest, trustworthy, genuine, strong and courageous. Additionally, promising applicants embody good sportsmanship, strong moral character, are passionate/committed to empowering his or her community, are confident and enthusiastic leaders, come from diverse backgrounds and display academic excellence.

5. ScholarshipPoints $10,000 Scholarship


Deadline: 12/15/16

Available to: High School Juniors through College Freshmen

Award Amount: $10,000

6. After College/AACN Nursing Scholarship


Deadline: 12/31/16

Available to: College Freshmen through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $10,000

The After College/AACN Nursing Scholarship is available to nursing students enrolled in a baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degree program in nursing. Special consideration will be given to students in a graduate program with the goal of becoming a nurse educator; students completing an RN-to-BSN or RN-to-MSN program; and those enrolled in an accelerated program.

7. Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship


Deadline: 1/27/17

Available to: College Freshmen through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: 30 Awards up to $10,000

The Ritchie-Jennings Memorial Scholarship is available to full - time undergraduate and graduate students. You must be majoring in accounting, business administration, finance, or criminal justice at an accredited four-year college or university to be eligible for this award. Undergraduate students must be enrolled in nine semester hours (or equivalent) per term and graduate students must be enrolled in six semester hours (or equivalent) per term.

8. ExploraVision Science Competition


Deadline: 2/06/17

Available to: Ages 14-21

Award Amount: 8 awards up to $10,000

The ExploraVision Science Competition is available to students in grades K-12. You must work in a group of two, three or four students. Each team will select a technology that is present in the home, school and/or community and explore what the technology does, how it works and how or why it was invented. All applicants must be citizens of the United States or Canada to be eligible.

9. Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest


Deadline: 4/28/17

Available to: High School Seniors through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: $20,000

The Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest is open to high school seniors, college undergraduates and graduate students. You must submit an essay of between 800 and 1600 words on a topic related to Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. The three topic choices are listed on the sponsor's website and essays will be judged on style and content.

10. "From Failure to Promise" Essay Contest


Deadline: 7/31/17

Available to: High School Seniors through Graduate Students, Year 5

Award Amount: 4 awards up to $10,000

The "From Failure to Promise" Essay Contest is open to high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students who hold at least a 2.5 GPA. To be considered, you must submit an essay of at least 1500 words that addresses the following three topics: Which tracks of the book "From Failure to Promise - 360 degrees" presented or reiterated the most important life lessons for you and why, which factor was the most vital to the author's evolution in going from "flunk-out" to "professor" and how does the "Seven Spheres of Influence and Integration Model" affect your worldview as related to civic responsibility.
