June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride (LGBT) Pride Month and, in support, Fastweb is working to connect students with educational opportunities that will only further equality for years to come.

Such opportunities like scholarships, grants, fellowships and internships available to the LGBTQ community are not just available to students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer, but also to students who are passionate about advocacy regarding equal rights for the LGBTQ community.

Check out the following list of LGBTQ scholarships, LGBTQ grants, LGBTQ fellowships and LGBTQ internships, all available to students that either identify as LGBTQ or are allies to the LGBTQ community.

To help better organize your scholarship and internship search, please note that the following scholarships for students within the LGBTQ community are listed according to deadline, with the earliest deadline appearing at the top of the page. Gregori Jakovina Endowment Scholarship

Available to: College Freshmen through Graduate Students, Year 5

Provided by the Equity Foundation, the Gregori Jakovina Endowment Scholarship is available to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and / or the children of LGBT parents.

You must be a resident of Oregon or Clark County, Washington and be majoring in the arts to be eligible for this award.

Larry McDonald Scholarship

Available to: College Freshmen through Graduate Students, Year 5

Provided by the Equity Foundation, the Larry McDonald Scholarship is available to adults students in mid - life who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender.

You must be seeking to make a significant change in your life or vocation by taking classes in the arts and / or humanities to be eligible for this award.

David M. Crawford Memorial Scholarship

Available to: College Freshmen through College Seniors

Provided by the Equity Foundation, the David M. Crawford Memorial Scholarship is available to students at Portland State University.

You must be actively involved in advancing LGBT rights to be eligible for this award.

Jim McBroom and John H. Weston Scholarship

Available to: College Freshmen through College Seniors

Provided by the Equity Foundation, the Jim McBroom and John H. Weston Scholarship is available to gay and lesbian students in or from Oregon who are attending four-year colleges.

Preference is given to students studying fine arts and humanities.

Jessica Dolin Memorial Scholarship

Available to: College Freshmen through College Seniors

Provided by the Equity Foundation, the Jessica Dolin Memorial Scholarship is available to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender students and students who are children of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered parents.

You must be a resident of Oregon or Clark County, Washington and be actively involved in advancing LGBT rights to be eligible for this award.

Pride of the Rose Scholarship

Provided by the Equity Foundation, the Pride of the Rose Scholarship is available to gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender students; and to students who are the children of gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender parents.

You must be a resident of the Portland quad - county area or Clark County, Washington to be eligible for this award.

The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Scholarship is available to gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or transgendered continuing students at the University of California, San Diego.

This scholarship is awarded on merit, need and experiences related to sexual orientation and gender identity.

The LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Scholarship is available to gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or transgendered continuing students at the University of California, San Diego.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Endowed Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students at Wayne State University.

You must be majoring in a fine, performing or communication art field and demonstrate positive sensitivity to and involvement in LGBT issues to be considered for this award. All students are invited to apply with preference given to LGBT students.

Kalyn Smith-Tranquil'son Memorial Fund

Available to: College Freshmen through College Senior

The Kalyn Smith-Tranquil'son Memorial Fund is an emergency funding source available to students at the University of California, Riverside.

You must be in good standing and have been temporarily or permanently cut-off financially from your family because of your sexual orientation, gender, perceived gender, or work with or for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Students of all sexual orientations and gender identities may apply for this award.

Levin-Goffe Scholarship Fund

Available to: College Freshman through College Senior

Provided by the Stonewall Community Foundation, the Levin-Goffe Scholarship Fund is available to students immigrating to New York City who identify as LGBTQI.

You must be enrolled full-time in a New York City non-profit college or university with one successfully completed academic year, have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and self-identify as an immigrant (defined as foreign-born U.S. resident) and self-identify as LGBTQI in order to qualify for this award.

Bee Winkler Weinstein Fund

Available to: College Freshman through College Senior

The Bee Winkler Weinstein Fund is available to lesbians, bisexual women, and female identified transgender individuals ages 18-25 whose own families have withdrawn emotional and/or financial support because of their sexual and/or gender identity.

This award promotes growth and self-sufficiency in young women by providing grants covering vocational/ technical training, licensing fees, college application fees and the like.

Applicants must reside within the United States to be eligible for this award.

Queer Asian & Pacific Islander Pride Scholarship

Provided by the Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center, the Queer Asian & Pacific Islander Pride Scholarship is open to Asian and Pacific Islander lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning students.

You must be 22 years old or younger and living in the San Francisco Bay Area to be eligible for this award.

Pedro Zamora Public Policy Fellowship

Available to: College Freshman through Graduate Student, Year 5

Provided by AIDS Action. the Pedro Zamora Public Policy Fellowship is open to young professionals, undergraduate and graduate students who seek experience in HIV-related public policy and government affairs.

You must have strong research, writing and organizational skills and a willingness to work in a professional office. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment is critical.

Familiarity with HIV-related issues and the legislative process is preferred.

People of color, women, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals, and HIV positive individuals are encouraged to apply.

Holley Law Fellowship

Available to: Graduate Students, Year 1 through Year 4

Provided by the National LGBTQ Task Force, the Holley Law Fellowship is available to graduate law students.

Fellow duties may include drafting local and state anti - discrimination legislation, writing memoranda and advocating the full range of transgender - related policy issues, drafting testimony for Congressional hearings, providing technical assistance to lawmakers and state based advocates, tracking and analyzing legislation at the federal, state and local level as well as other duties as needed.

You must possess excellent interpersonal, legal research and writing skills, have a strong interest in LGBT policy and / or nonprofit lawyering to be considered for this fellowship.

The League Foundation

The League Foundation is a national scholarship fund that was created to provide financial resources for Americans gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth to attend college.

Providing opportunities for higher education is just one of the many ways the League Foundation is able to empower such youth.

Philanthrofund Foundation

Commonly known as PFund, the non-profit’s mission is to be “a vital resource and community builder for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and allied communities by providing grants and scholarships, developing leaders and inspiring giving.”

The National Center for Transgender Equality

The National Center for Transgender Equality is “dedicated to advancing the equality of transgender people through advocacy, collaboration and empowerment.”

They tackle various issues like discrimination, hate crimes, education and many more.

Additionally, they offer people the tools to take action to help make a difference as well.

You can join the cause by applying for an internship position in one of the following five categories: policy, communications, development, general and legal.

Queer Foundation

The Queer Foundation is “dedicated to improving educational opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender youth.”

One such way of doing so is through their Queer Scholars Program, which provides colleges scholarships to LGBTQA high school students.

PFLAG National

Formerly known as Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays, PFLAG National is the largest U.S. organization that unites lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals with parents, friends, families and straight allies to support the LGBTQ community.

PFLAG offers national scholarships but many local chapters offers scholarships as well.

eQuality Scholarship Collaborative

The eQuality Scholarship Collaborative is a volunteer-led effort, which began in 1989.

The collaborative is a sponsored project of the Gay-Straight Alliance Network and, as of 2016, has awarded more than $1,000,000 in scholarships over the past 25 years.

In addition to offering a wealth of resources to LGBT college students, Campus Pride, in partnership with the Point Foundation, has a scholarship database which is chock full of scholarships for LGBT students looking to pay for school.

LGBTQ Internship Opportunities

Fair Courts Project Internship - Lambda Legal

Deadline: Varies

Available to: Graduate Student, Year 1 through Year 3

The Fair Courts Project Internship is open to law students who have experience with or an interest in legal issues relating to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV, specifically the Fair Courts Project.

Students who have had substantial political science undergraduate coursework are also eligible to apply. Interns will assist primarily with Lambda Legal's Fair Courts Project.

This position is located in New York, New York and is unpaid.

Communications Internship

Provided by the National LGBTQ Task Force, the Communications Internship is available to students with an interest in communications. Intern duties may include aiding in drafting copy and blogging at various events and functions and other duties as needed.

You must possess knowledge and commitment to LGBT issues, have strong communication skills and be computer proficient in order to be considered for this internship.

Creating Change Internship

Provided by the National LGBTQ Task Force, the Creating Change Internship is available to students with commitment to LGBT issues.

Intern duties may include aiding in logistic and programmatic aspects of the planning of of the National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change, planning meetings, managing inventory, data management and other duties as needed.

You must possess knowledge and commitment to LGBT issues, have strong communication skills and be computer proficient in order to be considered for this internship.

You must be willing to travel 25 percent of the time, have excellent problem solving, communication and organizational skills in order to be considered for this internship.
