The $500 “Because College is Expensive” Scholarship is open to all students (seniors in high school, current undergrads and grad students) and those planning on enrolling within 12 months. The winner will be determined by random drawing and then contacted directly and announced on the Scholarship Winners page. One entry per person is all that is necessary.

Andrew Flusche Scholarship Contest

Available to: High School Seniors through Graduate Student, Year 5
Award Amount: $500
The Andrew Flusche Scholarship Contest is available to high school seniors and students currently enrolled in a college or university. You must create a public service advertisement video (PSA) which raises awareness of the severity of the consequences of drunk driving among your peers to qualify for this award. The video must be uploaded to YouTube and be no longer than three minutes long.

The "From Failure to Promise" Essay Contest is open to high school seniors, undergraduate, and graduate students who hold at least a 2.5 GPA.
To be considered, you must submit an essay of at least 1500 words that addresses the following three topics: Which tracks of the book "From Failure to Promise - 360 degrees" presented or reiterated the most important life lessons for you and why, which factor was the most vital to the author's evolution in going from "flunk-out" to "professor" and how does the "Seven Spheres of Influence and Integration Model" affect your worldview as related to civic responsibility.

The AFSA Second Chance Scholarship Contest is open to students pursuing a college degree or trade school education. You must read the "Fire Sprinkler Essay" then take a ten - question multiple choice test to be eligible for this award.
For each question answered incorrectly, you will be given one more chance at the end of the exam to answer those questions correctly. A total of five entries into the drawing is possible if you answer all ten questions correctly.
