Available to: Graduate Students, Year 1

Award Amount: $12,000

The James Madison Fellowship is open to teachers or prospective teachers of American history, American government, or social studies in grades 7- 12.

Fellows are expected to complete one of the following: a Master of Arts (MA), a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), or a Master of Education (MEd) with an emphasis in American history, government, political science, or other relevant concentration.

Available to: Graduate Students, Year 1

Award Amount: 15 Awards of $500

The Texas Retired Teachers Foundation Student Scholarship is available to students enrolled in a college/university in Texas for the 2016 - 2017 school year. You must be related to a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and be pursuing an undergraduate or masters degree in education to qualify for this award.

Robert Noyce Scholarship

Available to: College Juniors through Graduate Students, Year 2

Award Amount: $10,000

The Robert Noyce Scholarship is available to full- time students attending a university within the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

You must be a junior or senior majoring in science, technology, engineering or mathematics; or a post- baccalaureate holding a degree in science or mathematics.

You must plan to complete certification to become a math or science teacher at a high need school to be considered for this award.

NACCTEP Scholarship Program


Deadline: 4/30/16

Available to: Graduate Students, Year 1

Award Amount: 2 Awards of $1,000

Provided by the National Association of Community College Teacher Education (NACCTEP), the NACCTEP Scholarship Program is open to community college students who are studying to become teachers.

You must be enrolled in an NACCTEP member community college, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be enrolled for a minimum of six semester or nine quarter hours to qualify for this award.

A letter of recommendation and a brief essay are also required.

Provided by the American Montessori Society (AMS), the AMS Teacher Education Scholarship is available to students pursuing a career in Montessori education.

Provided by Starfleet Academy, the Armin Shimerman/George Takei/LeVar Burton Scholarship for Business, Language Studies and Education is available to students pursuing studies in business management, foreign languages, teaching and other related fields.

Prospective Teacher Scholarship Loan

Available to: College Freshmen through College Seniors

Award Amount: $4,000

The Prospective Teacher Scholarship Loan is available to North Carolina undergraduates and high school seniors who are planning to become teachers in the public schools of North Carolina.

You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA, a minimum 900 SAT/19 ACT score, and be enrolled in an eligible teacher education program in North Carolina to be eligible for this award.

Additionally, you must work as a full-time teacher for one year for each year of funding support received. A recommendation by a school official is required.

Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant

Available to: College Freshmen through College Seniors

Award Amount: $7,500

The Paraprofessional Teacher Preparation Grant is available to undergraduate students who are legal residents of Massachusetts.

You must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program leading to teacher certification in an eligible Massachusetts public college and have been employed for at least two years as a paraprofessional in a Massachusetts public school.

You must also be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, not be in default of any state or federal education loan or grant, and have not earned a bachelor's degree to be eligible for this award.

If you have been employed for less than two years, you may qualify for the grant only if the undergraduate course of study will lead to teacher certification in high need disciplines: math, science, special education, foreign languages, or bilingual education.

Detroit Federation of Teachers Memorial Scholarship

Award Amount: Varies

The Detroit Federation of Teachers Memorial Scholarship is open to seniors and master's level students at Wayne State University who reside, attend or teach school within the geographical boundaries of the Detroit Public Schools.

Former Detroit Public School graduates pursuing certification are encouraged to apply.

The award requires that you have a GPA of at least 3.0, demonstrated financial need and demonstrated evidence of social and intellectual maturity.

United States Department of Education Internship Program

Ages: College Freshmen through College Seniors

The United States Department of Education Internship Program is open to students 16 years of age or older who are interested in the mission of the Education Department and formulating future career plans in the field of education.

You must be enrolled at least half time and currently be attending a high school, trade school, technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university or other accredited educational institution. Internships are available in specific offices and programs as well as types of work.

Some examples of types of work include: policy analysis, evaluation and research, project and program management, finance, public affairs and communications, external affairs and intergovernmental relations, legislative affairs, technology systems and legal work.

Some examples in specific topics or offices are: elementary and secondary education, student financial aid, higher education, special education, vocational and adult education, civil rights, bilingual education, reading, after-school programs, leadership and teacher development, safe and drug free schools and international education. Internships are unpaid.

There is no deadline to apply; however, it is recommended that you apply six to eight weeks prior to your starting date. Please visit the sponsor's web site for additional information.

Teacher Resource Center: Curriculum Development and Design Internship

Ages: Graduate Students, Year 1 through Year 5

The New England Aquarium Teacher Resource Center: Curriculum Development and Design Internship is available to graduate students studying education. Intern duties may include evaluating and updating materials in the Teacher Resource Center, developing ocean science curriculum, developing ocean related activities and other duties as needed.

You must have a strong interest in curriculum development, strong organizational skills and knowledge or willingness to become familiar with the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core Frameworks in order to be considered for this internship.
