It's not easy being green, but plenty of students still manage, treating every day as if it's Earth Day.
Did you know that a passion for going green can become a way to pay for school? It's true! Many students are rewarded for their efforts with awards.
In celebration of Earth Day, we've outlined environmental, Eco-friendly scholarships, green grants and internship opportunities for students who love the planet.
Additionally, we've provided you with Earth Day ideas that you can take on within your community to celebrate the art of going green.
According to EarthDay.org, every year more than a billion people across the globe take part in Earth Day activities. This year, the Earth Day 2015 theme is “It's Our Turn To Lead.”
Here are some ideas of what you can do to make a difference, whether locally or globally, this Earth Day:

Available to: High School Freshmen through High School Seniors
Award Amount: $500
The Earth Day Award is available to high school students.
To be considered, you must submit details about an environmental project that you are currently working on, or one that will be initiated for Earth Day in your home, school, and/or community.

Virginia Beach Master Gardeners Endowment Scholarship
Deadline: 2/29/16
Available to: College Sophomores through College Seniors
Award Amount: 2 Awards of $1,500
The Virginia Beach Master Gardeners Endowment Scholarship is available to residents of Virginia Beach who are majoring in an agriculture-related field.

Mosmiller Scholar Program
Deadline: 3/01/16
Available to: College Sophomores through College Seniors
Award Amount: $2,000
The Mosmiller Scholar Program is available to full-time undergraduates who are currently enrolled in recognized floriculture/environmental horticulture programs or business programs at two- or four-year colleges or universities in the United States.
You must maintain a "C" or better grade average with satisfactory progress in a degree or certificate program.

Timothy L. Taschwer Scholarship
Deadline: 3/15/16
Available to: College Sophomores through College Seniors
Award Amount: $500
The Timothy L. Taschwer Scholarship is available to full-time sophomore, junior and senior members of Tau Kappa Epsilon.
You must be majoring in natural resources, earth science or a related field (environmental science, biology, geology, chemistry, etc.), have a minimum 2.75 GPA, have a record of active TKE chapter leadership involvement, including an officer position, to be eligible for this award.
Preference is given to qualified graduates of the TKE Leadership Academy.

Dr. Nelson Ying Science Competition
Deadline: 4/01/16
Available to: High School Freshman through High School Seniors
Award Amount: $5,000
The Dr. Nelson Ying Science Competition is open to high school students residing in the Florida counties of Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Volusia.
To be considered, you must have a science project in one of the following categories: chemistry, computer science, earth and space science, engineering, environmental science, mathematics, or physics.
You must also submit a maximum ten page paper on your project along with a letter of reference from a science teacher. If selected, you must perform an oral presentation of your project at the Orlando Science Center.

Gals Go Fish Scholarship

Available to: College Juniors through College Seniors
Award Amount: $500
The Gals Go Fish Scholarship is available to full-time female students who reside and attend school in Missouri or Kansas.
You must be majoring in the environmental sciences and have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be eligible for this award.

Award Amount: $1,000
Amphibian Conservation Alliance is giving out seed grants all year.
Ranging from USD $500-$1,000 to help kick start projects or allow teams to try new innovative approaches to address conservation, research and educational challenges.

San Antonio Conservation Society Foundation Scholarship

The San Antonio Conservation Society Foundation Scholarship is available to students enrolled in the departments or schools of architecture at the following colleges: Prairie View A&M University, Rice University, Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, University of Houston, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Austin and University of Texas at San Antonio.
You must show an interest in historical architecture, preservation and adaptive reuse to be eligible for this award.

Summer Wildlife Intern – Wildcare Inc.

The Summer Wildlife Intern position is open to students who are interested in the care and treatment of injured and orphaned wildlife.
You must be able to work 20 hours per week from the months of May to August to be eligible for this internship.

Sea Turtle Research Internship

The Sea Turtle Research Internship is available at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. You will be involved in a variety of aspects monitoring the sea turtles on the beaches around Naples.
You must be at least a college senior, with preference given to students who have earned a BA or BS, studying biological or environmental science to be eligible for this position.
Working knowledge of the care and operations of ATVs, motorboats and small engines is an asset.

Marine Mammal Education and Research Internship

Sponsored by the New England Aquarium, the Marine Mammal Education and Research Internship is available to students who have an interest in marine biology, zoology, environmental education or related fields.

You must have completed at least one year of undergraduate study, have knowledge of scientific research methods, strong communication skills and be self-motivated in order to be considered for this internship.

The Environmental Education Internship at the Stratford Ecological Center is open to students who are interested environmental awareness and appreciation.
To be considered for this position, you must demonstrate a love of children, a deep relationship with the land, and a willingness to learn.
