You may not realize it, but some of your talents probably qualify you for scholarships. You likely don’t realize this because many of these “talents” aren’t considered special or unique by those who possess them. Most often, they are seen by students as hobbies or extracurricular activities.
But, you know who does think they’re special? Scholarship providers.
Not only do they recognize your talents and skills are special, but they are willing to reward you by helping you pay for school because of them!

Sponsored by Mystery Writers of America, the Helen McCloy/ MWA Scholarship for Mystery Writing is available to students who have talent in mystery writing—in fiction, nonfiction, playwriting, and screenwriting.
In addition to the application, you must submit a copy of official description of program printed by your institution/ sponsor of program, a writing sample, two letters of recommendation, and a short essay on your interest in mystery writing.
This scholarship is to be used to offset tuition and fees for U.S. workshops, seminars, or university/ college- level writing programs.

Swann Foundation Caricature & Cartoon Fellowship

The Swann Foundation Fellowship is available to graduate students who are conducting scholarly research and writing projects in the field of caricature and cartoon.
To be eligible, you must be a candidate for an M.A. or Ph.D. degree in a university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico and be working toward the completion of a dissertation or thesis for that degree, or be engaged in postgraduate research within three years of receiving an M.A. or Ph.D.

The Clowns of America, International (COAI) scholarship is available to students enrolled in family entertainment educational programs that run for a minimum of ten hours.

The Shaw-Worth Memorial Scholarship is open to New England high school seniors who have made meaningful contributions to the area of animal protection over a significant period of time.

The National High School Oratorical Contest is open to junior high and high school students who are under the age of 20 and citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States.
You must prepare an oration on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with some emphasis on the duties and obligations of citizens to our government.
A complete list of topics are available on the Legion's Web site. Each individual state winner certified into and participating in the first round of the national contest receives an additional $1,500 scholarship.
