Your junior year and senior years of high school are probably some of the more chaotic academic periods you’ll have to go through in your life.
There are scholarship applications and essays, personal statements to write, college applications to fill out, deadlines to meet, grades to maintain, and tests that dictate a large portion of your college applications to worry about.
It can get a tad overwhelming, to say the least. The key to getting everything you need to done is time management, prioritizing, and organizing.
Here are some helpful tips to follow to help you incorporate all of these aspects into your routine:
Write down deadlines.
There will be so many different deadlines you’ll need to meet from scholarship submissions to college applications to submitting SAT/ACT scores.
It’s safe to assume that from this point on, everything has a deadline and these deadlines need to be met on time.
Don’t wait until the last minute.
In some unlucky turn of events, deadlines tend to fall around the same time and you’ll be rushing to get everything done in the few days simply because you kept pushing it off until later. When you do this, you also don’t give yourself time to review whatever you’re submitting and that’s never a safe bet.
It may be a hassle to sit down for an hour or two filling out information to apply for financial aid, but it needs to get done eventually and saving for the very last days will only cause you undue stress.
Learn to manage your time more effectively.
Of course you are allowed to have a social life, but it doesn’t hurt to take a few hours out of each day to work on one thing. Eventually, your agenda won’t be covered with countless amount of work to get done.
Realize what is a priority and what is not.
When there is work to get done, do it. Sacrificing your free time now will help you in the long run. Trust me, going to college will be more rewarding than watching a whole series on Netflix.
Between worrying about high school and college, life can be stressful and, as high school students, we are expected to participate in extracurricular activities on top of that.
You may not be able to give yourself that much free time during these two years but, in the end, all of the hard work pays off!
