List Harvard on Your Resume Without Being a Genius

Did you know there is a way to get into Harvard without getting a perfect SAT score or being valedictorian at one of the top high schools in the country? It’s true – Harvard is finally accessible to students of all GPAs and incomes.

Through Harvard Extension School, Harvard University provides more than 600 online and on-campus courses in 60 different fields. Interested scholars can simply take a course through the Extension program or go so far as to complete a certificate or degree, both undergraduate and graduate. Harvard hopes that with this flexible education option, students can attend a top-tier school while working or achieving other life goals.

While a majority of learning takes place online, students have the option of attending evening classes at Harvard Square if offered through their course. These courses are taught by scholars, researchers and professionals from Harvard University, faculty from other local Boston universities and notable professionals from community and business organizations.

In addition to being taught by some of the best minds in academia, students that attend class through the Harvard Extension School are able to participate in career workshops, student organizations and campus events, including lectures. They also have access to electronic resources in Harvard’s libraries as well as computer facilities.

Students can attend each course from anywhere between $1,250 and $2,200. Descriptions for each course include the cost of the course, and financial aid is available to those students pursuing a degree.

What’s the best part about Harvard Extension? It works. Courses have been completed by Ann Romney; Joseph R. Paolino, Jr., who is the ambassador to Malta and former mayor of Providence, Rhode Island; and the former Colombian president, Álvaro Uribe Vélez, according to hackcollege.com. Harvard reports that 98% of survey respondents are satisfied with the quality of courses, and 97% feel the same about the quality of instructors.

As members of the Harvard Alumni Association, those that complete courses or programs in the Harvard Extension program go on to attend graduate programs at other prestigious universities and become leaders in their field of study or interest. It doesn’t hurt their chances either that they can now list Harvard on their resume.

For more information on Harvard’s Extension school, you can visit their website. Courses begin again in the fall and can be taken in January as well as during the spring semester.
