Provided by RateADrug, the PreMed Prescription Rating and Experience Program (PPREP) is open to students majoring in medicine, pre-medicine, nursing, and other health-related fields and select fields in alternative medicine.
Participants will be working directly with prescription and over-the-counter drug users to evaluate the efficacy and side effects of their medications. You must conduct a minimum of 100 five-minute patient surveys within the first four months of acceptance into the program.
The top intern per cycle will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Selection is based on academic background, experience, and extracurricular activities.

Some suggested topics for your essay are:
• Why are alternative therapies used by cancer patients when they are not FDA approved?
• Should cancer patients and doctors be able to use whatever treatments they like in treating cancer?
• Should medicinal medicine and folk knowledge have any relevancy in cancer?
• It is estimated that it costs over $400 million to bring a new cancer drug to market. Does that establish roadblocks for the testing and approval of alternative therapies?

Century Club Health Careers Scholarship

Available to: Graduate Students, Year 4 through Year 5

The Health Services Research Dissertation Award is available to doctoral students enrolled in accredited research doctoral programs in the United States.
You must be working on a dissertation that will focus on areas relevant to health services research, with an emphasis placed on methodological and research topics that address the mission of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
Additionally, you must supply certification that your defense has been successfully completed.
Funding will support direct costs related to your dissertation during your project period. U.S. citizenship is also required.
