The new school year is upon us; and with that, it’s time to start looking at some of the best back to school deals for students and parents alike. This year, Apple is really upping its back to school game.
Last week, Apple announced that it would be offering a free pair of Beats Solo2 headphones with iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Pro purchases, as reported by TIME. When students, parents of students and school or university employees purchase these products, they’ll be given an instant credit of $199.95 to cover the cost of the headphones.
If students want to use the credit toward a pair of Beats Solo2 wireless headphones, which retail for $299.95, they can. They will just have to pay the remaining $100 balance on their own.
The promotion is available in stores starting now until September 18 and will become available on Apple.com on August 6.
In addition to offering free Beats headphones, Apple provides further discounts on their laptops and iPads for students. The MacBook Air starts at $849 and the iPad Mini 2 at $279. Students also have the option to finance their Apple purchase, breaking the cost of a laptop or iPad up into as many as 48 monthly payments.
These Apple products come with access to other educational opportunities that students can take advantage of outside of the classroom. For instance, students can access different Apps – some of which are free – that can help enhance the learning experience. They can benefit from iBooks, which features biographies, reference guides and textbooks. Laptops and iPads also come equipped with free supplementary materials like lectures, videos, books and more on a plethora of subjects via iTunes U.
Finally, students are eligible for free shipping on their new laptop or iPad as well as free customization at any Apple Store. With a consultant, students are able to tailor their Apple experience to whatever fits their personality, major or organizational structure.
The free Beats headphones offer from Apple is pretty monumental. When the student discount first began, students received free iPods; however, in recent years, the free back to school deal was limited to $100 gift cards to the App Store, according to TechCrunch. With this deal, Apple is ensuring that students aren’t just equipped with the means to succeed in the classroom but with the tools to get by during the long hours of studying too.
